This article describes how the College decided how it will use Social Studies to organize its interdisciplinary research. Social Studies is a philosophy of struggle by social group theory that deals with ideas, motivations and personal challenges. When one investigates social issues in Political Science, it focuses on making connections between historical and modern situations in a given group. This becomes important when one looks at a study of cross-disciplinary issues, such as the nature, quantity and distribution of collective power, in the context of the social sciences. This discussion draws on empirical studies of the historical conditions in the Western sub-Saharan African communities, such as Ina Shkodran and Joshua Haines, which developed their methodology, the history of the word system and the history of gender.
